Our Approach

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction

Oxford Defines Mindfulness as:

A mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Oxford defines CBT as:

a type of psychotherapy in which negative patterns of thought about the self and the world are challenged in order to alter unwanted behavior patterns or treat mood disorders such as depression.

Psychotherapy/Talk Therapy

American Psychiatric Association's Definition:

Psychotherapy, or talk therapy, is a way to help people with a broad variety of mental illnesses and emotional difficulties. Psychotherapy can help eliminate or control troubling symptoms so a person can function better and can increase well-being and healing.

Problems helped by psychotherapy include difficulties in coping with daily life; the impact of trauma, medical illness or loss, like the death of a loved one; and specific mental disorders, like depression or anxiety.

As founder of ABSI, I believe in a communitarian approach, placing significance on the person and their environment, and meeting each individual where they are in the moment. I have been trained from a strengths based, family-centered perspective. Therefore, I am concerned with each individual and the connection between them in their environment. I strive to build a genuine connection with my clients by fostering a transparent and supportive environment. You are the expert in your journey, and I am here to assist.

In order to work on something, you must first be aware of its presence. This is why my modality of choice is Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. Throughout the duration of my life I have routinely participated in self-reflection and assessments, because it allows me to see all the moving parts in my life, which in turn has fostered an environment of growth throughout my life. There are always going to be challenges in life, but having the tools to get through them triumphantly makes all the difference.

“The universe had to fall apart into dust first to become its majestic, incredible, infinite self. What makes you think this breaking, this trauma, this destruction, won’t be the making of a more powerful you too?”— Nikita Gill

Some of the tools that you may enhance while on this journey are: Mindfulness, Patience, Emotional Regulation, Emotional Intelligence, Impulse Control and more.

Let us help you find care that's right for you.
